Todd Manning on One Life to Live: Howarth originated the role of the controversial and often villainous Todd Manning in 1992. He played the character on and off until the show's cancellation in 2012. Following One Life to Live's cancellation, the character of Todd Manning was then involved in a character change of plastic surgery and the actor appeared on General Hospital in the role of Todd Manning but with the character being known as Frankendavid.
Franco Baldwin on General Hospital: After One Life to Live's cancellation, Howarth joined General Hospital, initially playing Todd Manning due to legal reasons. He then transitioned to a new character named Franco Baldwin. He played Franco from 2012 until the character's death in 2021.
Austin Gatlin-Holt on General Hospital: In 2021, following Franco's death, Howarth remained on General Hospital in a new role as Dr. Austin Gatlin-Holt.
